What this is

Goa has a reputation. These tours look for what's behind it — the village roads that don't appear on tourist maps, the heritage bungalows run by the families that built them, the forest stretches where the only sound is the engine.

Slow Moto Tours is run by Jo and Pratish. Jo knows what a foreign rider needs to feel at ease. Pratish knows India — the roads, the rhythms, the people. When you join us, you're not a guest on someone's tour. You're riding with the people who built every kilometre of it.

We are an official Royal Enfield Tours partner. Six bikes a departure, carefully maintained Classic 350s, and a shared belief in what riding at its best should feel like.

The destination

Why Goa by Motorcycle

Goa's reputation arrives before you do. The beaches, the parties, the December crowds — none of that is wrong, exactly, but it covers something more interesting. A motorcycle gets you underneath it.

The coastal roads running north and south of Palolem are narrow, quiet, and lined with coconut groves that haven't changed much in fifty years. The villages in Goa's interior move at their own pace — Catholic and Hindu influences layered over each other, Portuguese-era architecture standing beside working rice fields, an unhurried quality of life that the tourist strip in North Goa never quite achieves.

The road south through Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary drops into forest that feels genuinely remote. The road north through Fontainhas and Old Goa carries four centuries of history in a few square kilometres. On a Royal Enfield, at the right pace, Goa speaks in its own voice.

And from Palolem, the road doesn't have to end in Goa. The Western Ghats begin almost immediately to the east, and Karnataka's highlands — Jog Falls, Chikmagaluru's coffee estates, Madikeri's jungle valley — are one long riding day away. Goa is a beginning as much as a destination.

"Local roads through colourful villages, forest, jungle tracks and highway bridges — like living a Rudyard Kipling novel."

On the road

What the Riding Is Like

The pace is deliberate. These are not fast tours, and the roads are not a racetrack. What they are is varied, engaging, and genuinely interesting — the kind of riding where you notice things.

Goa's roads are largely smooth tarmac, with traffic that's light once you leave the main tourist corridors. The coastal country roads are narrow and winding in a way that rewards attention, not speed. The 3-day and 6-day round trips are well-suited to riders who are confident but not necessarily experienced with Indian conditions.

The 12-day routes are more demanding. Mountain roads in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu involve longer daily distances, varied surfaces, and occasional sections where the road earns its reputation. Traffic in the larger towns requires a different kind of focus. Experience matters more here — not skill level, but composure.

All tours require a valid international driving licence for motorcycles up to 350cc. If you're unsure whether your experience is right for a specific tour, write to us. We'll give you an honest answer.

The machine

Royal Enfield Classic 350

The Classic 350 is not the fastest motorcycle and not the lightest. It is, however, the right one for these roads — built in India, tuned for Indian conditions, torquey enough for mountain passes and comfortable enough for six-hour riding days.

There is something fitting about riding South India on a Royal Enfield. The brand has been part of the landscape since 1955. On village roads and forest tracks where a more exotic machine would attract attention, a Classic 350 simply belongs.

Slow Moto Tours is an official Royal Enfield Tours partner. All bikes are maintained to a standard we're willing to stake the tour on. Fuel and unlimited kilometres are included in every package. The 12-day tours include a dedicated mechanic and support vehicle.

Palolem — Where Every Tour Begins

Palolem is South Goa at its most considered — a curved bay backed by palms, with a pace of life that feels earned rather than manufactured. It's where every Goa tour starts, and where the two 12-day point-to-point routes either begin or finish.

The airport is Dabolim (GOI), roughly 60 kilometres north. Pre-paid taxis take about 90 minutes. The resort we use sits above the standard beach accommodation — comfortable, characterful, and right on the bay.

Who you're riding with

We Built Every Kilometre of This

We met on a road in Kerala and kept going. What followed turned into something we didn't want to keep to ourselves — journeys shaped by time, trust, and a deep connection to India.

Jo knows what a foreign rider needs to feel at ease. The pace, the anxiety of the first morning in Indian traffic, the things that catch European and Australian riders off guard. Pratish knows India — the roads, the rhythms, the guesthouses that don't have a website, the chai stops worth the detour.

When you join us, you're not a guest on someone's tour. You're riding with the people who chose every road, tested every bed, and ate at every table on the itinerary. Your guide on the road will be Jo or Pratish — on every departure, it's one of us.

Slow Moto Tours is an official Royal Enfield Tours partner — listed on their global touring platform alongside some of the most trusted motorcycle journeys in the world. The partnership means carefully selected, well-maintained Classic 350s on every departure and a shared belief in what riding at its best should feel like.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the 3-day and 6-day Goa tours?
Goa Rasa (3 days) is a compact introduction to Goa's quieter side — coastal village roads, a colonial heritage bungalow and Netravali forest. Goa Ke Us Paar (6 days) goes deeper: Old Goa, the Latin Quarter of Fontainhas, Divar Island by ferry, and more time with the landscape. Both start and end in Palolem. If you have six days, take six.
When is the best time to ride in Goa?
The riding season runs from late October through early March. This window avoids the monsoon entirely and catches Goa in its best condition — dry roads, manageable heat, clear skies. December and January are the sweet spot: cooler mornings, good light, and the interior roads almost entirely to yourself.
Can I combine a Goa tour with Kerala?
Yes — this is exactly what the 12-day tours are built for. Thenga Ka Rishta rides from Palolem all the way south to Kochi, through Karnataka's highlands, the Western Ghats, Wayanad and Munnar. Kaju Ka Rishta does the same route in reverse — starting in Kochi and finishing at Palolem Beach. Both are 1,400+ km of riding across three states.
Do I need motorcycle experience to join?
You need a settled relationship with your motorcycle. The pace is deliberate and the roads are manageable, but Indian traffic reads differently, surfaces change without warning, and conditions reward judgement over reaction. A valid international driving licence for motorcycles up to 350cc is required. If you're unsure whether your experience level is right, write to us and we'll tell you honestly.
Is Goa a good starting point for a longer South India motorcycle tour?
Goa is an excellent gateway. Palolem in South Goa is well-connected by air (Dabolim / GOI and the newer Manohar / GOX airports) and sits at the natural northern edge of a route that runs all the way down to Kochi. Our 12-day Thenga Ka Rishta tour departs from Palolem and ends in Kochi — covering Karnataka's coffee highlands and Kerala's coast and mountain roads along the way.
What is included in the tour price?
All tours are fully all-inclusive: Royal Enfield Classic 350 with fuel and unlimited kilometres, all accommodation, all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), all non-alcoholic drinks, bike insurance, entrance fees, nature reserve passes and road tolls. The 6-day and 12-day tours include a guide and support vehicle. Budget €15–30 per day for personal spending — alcohol, shopping and tips.
How large are the groups?
Maximum six bikes per departure. This is a deliberate limit, not a marketing line. Six riders means the group moves as a unit, stops where it wants to stop, and eats at places a larger group couldn't walk into. Every departure is guided by Jo or Pratish — the two people who built and ride these routes.
How do I get to Palolem for the tour?
The traditional gateway is Dabolim (GOI), approximately 60 km north of Palolem — pre-paid taxis take about 90 minutes. Goa's newer Manohar International Airport (GOX) is closer to South Goa. The 12-day Kochi–Goa tour ends at Palolem, making it a natural connection if you're flying home from Goa. We can advise on logistics once you've made an enquiry.
